Helping You Decant In Style

Why Should I Decant?

Why should you decant? That’s a very good question. Before we talk about why, I want you to think back thousands of years when wine pressing was more basic and elementary.  Once all of the liquid from the grapes was gathered up there would still be sediment, or little bits of fruit pulp and fibers still in the wine. The decanter served as a way of separating the liquid from the sediment. So if you are drinking an older wine I would say that you should decant to help separate sediment from the wine itself to give you a glass of wine that isn’t interrupted by other elements.

“What if I am drinking a current wine?” you ask. That is another good question. Current wine makers have refined the filtering process so Why Should I Decantthat there really isn’t a need for decanting to separate sediment. However, decanting a young wine is a great way to let the wine breathe.  By letting the wine breathe you allow oxygen into the wine, which breaks up the tannins and gives your wine more flavor.

So when you decant a young wine try a wine decanter like the Versovino wine decanter, which lets you decant the wine one glass at a time. If you would like a decanter with more style and elegance then try the Rojaus Grapevine wine decanter or the beautiful RoJause Fleur De Lis.
